lemâitre is the music act from Norway that has revived the excitement and glory of circa 2007 electro for me. I never got into the whole dubstep movement, so this little gem that is lemâitre has been ever -so – refreshing. Who said proper electro was dead?

HANDMADE

Dec 15 2011

I recently was able to get my hands on some martino gnarled toad buffalo leather and decided to make myself a little card holder and simple wallet, choosing to use high end fashion brands that have been channeling that “raw” + one piece leather look as inspiration. It was pretty tough as I had to hand sew it utilizing pliers and heavy duty needles to get through the tough leather.

King Krule-The Noose of Jah City (AKA ZOO KID, this little British guy’s music has been so refreshing!!!)

I am often required to meet with the design team at the the company’s other building on Santa Fe Ave. Filled with great art and recently renovated by local LA architecture firm Standard, the space features raw wood finishes with accents from the pre-existing infrastructure.

RETNA art in the lobby! Eric holdin’ down the fort and keepin’ the spot secure!

Long weekend!

Nov 28 2011

thanksgiving weekend is always filled with friends, food, and fun!

Big Gabe and Jimmy having a mini-meeting about their upcoming projects. Both are talented film majors at UCLA and Art Center respectively.

Jason aka “Chairman Yau” from the bay came through for a relaxing night catching up. It’s always a pleasure listening to what Jason’s current and upcoming ventures as this guy is definitely a man of quite the stature (both physically and career wise!)

penny skateboards / Australia

I love what penny skateboards is doing with their simple yet classic/timeless product. I recently ordered their banana board reminiscent of my own very first skateboard my mother purchased for me when I was 7 years old. The best part about penny’s version is that it’s actually a smooth ride (actual soft urethane vs. hard plastic wheels) and has high quality components.

Andrew D. asked if I wanted to check out the fairfax flea market last sunday. For some reason I said yes even though I knew precipitation % was 100 for the day. Andrew swears that you can find the best deals on rainy days. He was right. As the brave vendors continued to setup their booths, the rain came pouring down and since the spaces were already paid for, haggling was at its prime time.

This bridge is used in tons of music videos, fashion shoots, etc. It’s definitely pretty epic with the small yet distinct LA skyline in the backdrop. I took a walk with my lady and ran into a pretty hilarious adiDAS photo-shoot with multi-ethnic teens walkin’ and vibin’.

I met brian j. while working at the vans office. he definitely has an impressive collection, considering this is only a quarter of what he used to own.

home.

tHIS LAST WEEK WAS JAM PACKED, FINALLY HAVE A MOMENT TO RELAX and catch a breath!

This past weekend I attended a dinner party and met a true professor. Professor meowmerz, that is (as shown below). a true himalayan beauty.

Thanks to Anfernz on the heads up, my lover and I attended Feist’s outdoor mini-concert at Jimmy Kimmel live, where I was reminded of how talented and wonderful the canadian artist’s live concerts are. The true definition of “live” music, her live remixes/reworks of songs are always so magical.

Always a pleasure playing music with jose. a little too late, but this time around we hopped on the chillwave bandwagon and ventured into a new style of sound. maybe i’ll upload it onto this blog when it is finished..
